Consider becoming a block watch captain in our neighborhood
A string of carjackings in our neighborhood this summer had residents on edge, and although police have arrested a suspect in the crimes, residents are encouraged to consider becoming a block watch captain to help keep the neighborhood safe in the future.The carjackings "provided a good example of how the block watch captains could be used to transmit vital information to neighbors," Tosa East Towne safety liaison Tim Sumiec said. "We have to get creative to reach as many people as possible, not only for troubling events but for fun community events as well."Info on the block watch program is available online on the city's website.The main requirement of the block watch captain is to deliver the “Tosa Watch” newsletter on a quarterly basis. If you are interested in gathering your neighbors and hosting an introductory block watch meeting, community policing officers from the Wauwatosa Police Department would come and speak; further explaining the program and police expectations.The following are blocks that are in need of block watch captains.
