2015 Gran Prix Bike Race

The third annual East Tosa Gran Prix is coming June 28 to our neighborhood! This day-long event is the final day of the Tour of America’s Dairyland. It’s an exciting event that everyone can enjoy!Check out a video from the 2013 Event!The Tour of America’s Dairyland is the largest competitive professional road cycling event in the United States. The events take place over 11 consecutive days in 11 Wisconsin cities. The Tour features professional and amateur riders from around the world. Races run nearly non-stop from noon to dusk and features both male and female riders of different age and skill levels.
The East Tosa Gran Prix will be a criterium course through the neighborhood. For those not familiar with cycling, a criterium is a short course loop, usually less than a mile. It will be a multi-lap race with racers traversing the course up to 80 times. The final event of each day, the Men's Pro Race, will feature speeds exceeding 35 mph!
Race Route
The route of the race will be from 65th to 69th St, from North Ave to Meinecke. This is a new race route!This seven-tenths of a mile rectangular crit features a long gradual hill from turn four up to the finish line. Through East Tosa's popular business district and awesome neighborhoods you will go!

Kids Race
6 pm Race StartCheck-in: 4:30-5:30 pmA fun, non-competitive kids bike race will be held at 6 pm. All kids are encouraged to participate! Parents may walk with young children.You can sign up on the East Tosa Website.Races will be segmented as follows:
- 4 and under*
- 5-6 year olds*
- 7-8 year olds*
- 9-12 year olds
*Children in these age ranges will race a partial course.All participants must wear a helmet.
What Residents Need to Know About Race Day
This neighborhood event is fun for everyone. It’s a great time to have party in your yard or take some chairs to the race route. Invite your neighbors and friends. Bring your kids too! It’s fun to watch the race and walk around the course. Don’t forget to visit all the great businesses on North Avenue!The East Tosa Gran Prix will bring approximately 10,000 fans plus riders and race staff to our neighborhood. The spectators will be parking on our neighborhood streets and walking to the event.The streets around the criterium course will be blocked off all day for the safety of riders and spectators.Residents who live within the course boundaries will NOT have an opportunity to move their cars during the day. If you need to use your car during race day, it is recommended that you find street parking outside of the course.There will be clearly designated and manned “Safe Crossing” zones for residents and spectators who need to get across the course.Spectators can watch the races at any point along the course. Residents along the course will have a front seat to the spectacle. Consider inviting friends and family and host a yard party.The Start/Finish line will be on 68th and North Ave. This is where the awards podium and announcing stand will be.
