2021 Arctic Adventure

Welcome to TETNA’s Arctic Adventure!

  • Check here each Thursday from February 18th to March 18th to find a new challenge as we count down the five weeks to Spring.

  • No registration is needed – Everyone is invited to participate – adults, kids, and families of all ages.

  • The Arctic Adventure Challenges will be open-ended and focused on having fun, making connections, and staying positive!

Have a blast… and be sure to follow along on Facebook! Take time to enjoy watching the adventures of your TETNA neighbors surviving and making the most of this winter right along with you!

We want to hear from YOU!

  • Participate in whichever challenges interest you and submit as many picture responses as you’d like to help build our Arctic Adventure Gallery!

  • Send your photos to info@tosaeasttowne.org or tag @TosaEastTowne on Facebook.

  • We'll post your photos here and share highlights in our newsletter.

  • The challenges will be cumulative. Every week a new challenge will be added but past challenges will still remain. Feel free to revisit any challenge you may have missed – your pictures and responses are always welcome!

 

3/18 - Final Challenge: Spring into Action!

The temperatures have been a bit fickle lately, but it is officially time to bid a final farewell to Winter.  TETNA neighbors will wake up to Spring on Saturday!  This year, the Spring Equinox officially begins on March 20th at 4:37 A.M. Central Time.  

So for this final challenge, get busy celebrating the signs of spring all around us and by creating some springtime fun of your own!

Snap a picture, send it in, and show us how you are putting a little spring in your step this week.  However this new season moves you, enjoy Springing into Action…

  • Any final remnants of winter you want to memorialize?

  • Any words of wisdom to share after a long winter?

  • What and where are your first Spring outings?

  • What leaves and buds are popping up in your yard?

  • Any early flowers decorating your lawns and gardens?

  • Have you developed a case of Spring-Cleaning Fever?

  • Are the Spring breezes blowing kites and bubbles around at your house?

  • Are you getting a jump on all that yard work?

  • Have you pulled out the shorts and tshirts yet?

  • Is your grill fired up for that first spring cookout?

  • Will you have your first outdoor ice cream anytime soon?

  • Any Spring arts, crafts, or decorations you’d like us to admire?

  • Have you written a new Ode to Spring?  Or maybe just a spring Haiku!?

3/11 - Challenge WEEK #4:
Love Your Neighbor

This week, we are challenging everyone in the Tosa East Towne Neighborhood Association to spread a little kindness to those around them.

So put yourselves out there TETNA, and show your neighbors how much you care!

How will you show some neighborly love this week…

  • Delivering a special treat

  • Dropping off an unexpected gift

  • Lending a hand

  • Crafting a special message

  • Adding a fun, colorful, or surprising addition to their yard

  • Or ??? Use your imagination –

We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Whether In-person or anonymously… how many kind, fun, and loving acts can you carry out in TETNA this week?

3/4 - Challenge WEEK #3: Hey… We’re Out and About!

March has arrived – time to enjoy the days getting a bit longer and (dare we say) the average temps getting a little higher! We may still need our jackets and the occasional mittens, but it’s time to venture out. Let’s hit the TETNA town and see what’s up!

Longer Days, More Adventure:

  • Any fun day trips planned? New sights to explore?

2/25 - Challenge WEEK #2:
I Love Winter, Winter Loves Me!

Well, the coldest blasts of winter seem to be behind us now, but there’s still a long road to Spring. How do you (and/or your family) keep your spirits high as the temperatures stay low?

It’s time for a little Self Care! Share your best winter coping skills with your TETNA neighbors – we’re all in this together!

How will you answer this challenge?

Share your self-care secrets:

  • Who are you snuggling with on these chilly winter nights?

  • Can you screenshot your favorite podcast?

  • How do you wind down for your long winter naps?

  • What inspirational quote is lifting your spirits?

  • Is your yoga or exercise routine making more than your muscles happy?

  • Found any tricks for keeping that baby soft skin and summery glow?

2/18 - Challenge WEEK #1: Conquering the Winter Wonderland!

As the temperatures promise to climb back into the 20’s and 30’s this week, it seems only right to kick off the TETNA Arctic Adventure with an all-neighborhood Ode To Snow!

How will you answer this first challenge?

Capture your wintertime fun in a photo:

  • Help us picture what snow related activities are you enjoying the most

  • Let us gasp at the height of your snowbank

  • Show off any snowmen, snowwomen, or other snow creatures popping up in your yard

  • Wow us with that impressive snow or ice sculpture in the making

  • Let us see just how bundled up are you, or your kids, or your pets

Invite folks for a drive or walk-by visit…

  • Is your front yard winter creation not to be missed? – Share your address or hundred block and invite TETNA to drive or walk by! We might need a selfie!!

  • Have a special snow activity to share? Just ask and we’ll all tie a new scarf on your snowman, add a pine branch to your nature design, pick up a snowflake cutout from your porch, or ??

Share the Beauty:

  • What gorgeous wintery scenes have you captured – outside or through your window panes?

  • What amazing snow crafts are happening at your house?

  • What creative writing, drawing, painting, sculping or other project has this winter inspired?
