Jake was 4 years old when he was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma.  He received numerous blood and platelet transfusions that were integral during his 3 1/2 years of treatment.  Jake lost his battle in March 2009 at the age of 7.  His family sponsors two blood drives each year at Jake’s school, Roosevelt Elementary.  Jennifer, Jake’s mom, says, “We hope donors will continue to be there for all the other children who need blood products.”

2015 TETNA Block Party & Movie Night

We have lots of fun stuff planned, but the more volunteers we have, the more fun we can offer! Please sign up to volunteer.

The TETNA Annual Block Party & Movie Night at Center Street Park is fun for the whole family, including: games (volleyball and kickball), activities (water balloon toss, bubble blowing, field games), face painting, food from the grill, and – new this year – a bounce house! Come for the fun and food, and then stay at dusk to watch a movie under the stars!

Block Party Schedule of Events:

3:00 – Set up – give us a hand setting up tables and food
3:30 – Bounce House opens (small fee for a hand stamp to take turns all evening)
4:00 – Water Balloon Toss – all ages!
4:30 – Food available for purchase: Hot dogs and sausages, corn on the cob, chips, watermelon, popcorn, drinks. Bring a picnic blanket and join us for an old-fashioned cookout.
5:00 – Bubble Blowing Contest – fashion a wand from pipe cleaners and make the biggest bubble on the block! Face painting and temporary tattoos available too!
6:00 – All Neighborhood Kickball Game – the whole family can join the team!
8:00 – Set up your blankets and get ready for a family friendly movie: Big Hero 6

Other features: A possible visit from our neighborhood Fire and Police department, volleyball net, and live music (do you know someone in the neighborhood who would be willing to play some tunes? Let us know!)

Grab a group of people from your block and join us. We can’t wait to see you at this year’s Block Party!

Annual Meeting

Please join us at the 2015 TETNA Annual Meeting. Come to learn about all the exciting events and new businesses coming to our neighborhood. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors and get involved.

Town Hall Meeting

District 5 Town Hall Meeting

City officials have scheduled several town hall meetings in April and May to discuss the “state of the city,” construction projects, developments, schools and other current issues. Mayor Kathy Ehley and Superintendent Phil Ertl will be at all the meetings, while local aldermen may attend those in their districts.
