I have started a Facebook group to pull together people from all over the city and county to help find answers and solutions. We are having a meeting at Shepherd's at 6715 W North Ave from 7 to 9 PM tomorrow, Wednesday, August 25. I am told that Bill Tate, the owner, suffered damage and is eager to work with the group. I know you are all focused on East Towne, but with damage all over the city and throughout the county, I am hoping we can pull together a larger group to work cooperatively with our cities, the county and MMSD to get straight answers on the issues and find a solution so our basements are not filled with sewage year after year. This is at least our 7th flood (sewer backup) since 1996. Two this summer. We have a partially finished basement which has been completely ruined 3 times. Furniture had to be thrown out, carpet taken up, wainscoting and drywall removed as it molded badly. Dates of the "floods" June 1996, Summer 1997, Summer 2003, May 2008, July 2009 and twice this summer, 2010. Received some FEMA aid back in 1996, but otherwise just keep throwing out all our possessions. Our whole block (2300 block of 68th) always gets flooded - you can see all the sewage drenched stuff out on the curb the next day. Let us know what we can do to help with your Flood Database work.
